A Little Faith History

During the year 1940, Lutherans living in the Platt Springs Road area began to think about organizing a church
The Rev. T.F. Suber, Superintendent of the S.C. Synod of the U.L.C.A. was a major force in this drive. When a survey was made, it was found that there were not enough Lutherans in the area to form a church, so they decided to build a chapel to which people of all denominations would be invited. Three lots on Denham Avenue were donated, the chapel was built with volunteer labor and almost all the furnishings were donated. The first service was held March 30, 1941 at 3 p.m. On the last Sunday in December 1941 the church was formally organized as Faith Lutheran Church. In March 1942 Faith Lutheran Church was dedicated and the charter membership totaled 50. Later, a parsonage was built beside the church.

The church grew until the Denham Avenue property was no longer adequate. A 4-acre tract of land on Platt Springs Road was obtained and the Denham Avenue property was sold. The new church building was dedicated September 9, 1956. Also, a house on Wilton Road was purchased that served as parsonage for over 30 years. In 1990 the Fellowship Hall adjoining the existing church building was dedicated, and driveways were paved.
